Advanced Amarillo a Success Story for Panhandle Volleyball

This upcoming 2010 season will be the second season for the Panhandle’s most successful volleyball club. Again this season, Advanced Volleyball – Amarillo will field teams to participate in the USA Volleyball Junior Olympic program. Executive Director, Stephanie Bankhead, along with a head coaching staff of Jan Barker (Head Varsity Coach, Amarillo High), Jason Culpepper (Head Varsity Coach, Randall High), Scott Sandel (Head Varsity Coach, Tascosa High) and Jason Skoch (Head Coach, West Texas A&M University) are working together to create a club experience unlike any other in the Panhandle.

Looking back on the 2009 season, Advanced Amarillo qualified 4 teams to participate in the USA Volleyball Junior Olympic National Championship Tournament in Miami, Florida. Every senior on our 18 Navy team, nine athletes, signed commitments to play volleyball in college. And so far, nine of our 2010 graduating athletes have verbally committed to play collegiately. All across the Texas Panhandle, Advanced athletes are successfully participating on their middle school, Freshman, JV and Varsity volleyball teams.

Advanced Volleyball - Amarillo will again call The Courts of Amarillo home. In fact, both are owned by the husband and wife team Todd & Lori Prekker. The Prekker’s opened The Courts of Amarillo in January of 2008. Holding all events and practices in the 8 court, state of the art facility, enables Advanced Volleyball to use a systematic approach to teaching fundamental skills to every athlete in the club. The coaching staff will work closely together, united as a team of coaches, to ensure the standards of excellence are met and exceed expectation. Our goal is that every athlete that comes through our volleyball program will be prepared to play volleyball at the collegiate level, as well as acquire life skills that will help them to be productive adult members of society.

Estimated season costs will range from $750-$800 for the Juniors and Developmental program and $1400-$2600 for the 12’s-18’s programs. Actual season costs will be determined at your team meeting based on tournament selection.
